Packery/Port Aransas Jetty
As I pulled up to the South jetty I looked over to the north and saw Perry rigging up and getting ready to fish. I made my way down the Jetty and instantly saw spanish mackerel working glass minnows. After an hour or so of catching smacks all alone David Sikes starts walking down the Jetty. I met up with him to see what’s going on. He says that the north jetty was really hot and that Perry had jumped a couple of tarpon and the jacks were pretty thick as well, but it had slowed down and he wanted to try the south.
David hooks up on his second cast and it’s a good redfish, at this point I had 4 smacks and a redfish on the stringer. David asks if I want his red and I take it, I string up the fish and continue fishing, after a few minutes I look over to my stringer and it’s gone. The jetty ate yet another one of my stringers with fish on it. After a few more minutes Perry makes his way down the jetty and it just so happened that everyone fishing the north followed him to the south. Everyone on the jetty started hammering redfish one after another. Throughout that day there was reports of 5 tarpon rolling, including two from Perry and myself.
